The Ga Presbytery Bible School provides high quality theological and ministerial training to lay leaders who play significant roles in nurturing congregations and fellowships that do not have ordained ministers.
The School is run at the premises of the Presbyterian Secondary School, Osu, Accra.
The course is run on part-time basis. Classes are held between 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm, Monday through Thursday.
Admission to the school is open to all who wish to receive theological or ministerial training, irrespective of religious background. Applicant must:
- Posses at least, two passes in General Certificate of Education (GCE) Ordinary Level;
- Be a mature Christian;
- Be proficient in the use of the English Language.
Mature students may be admitted without the requisite certificates.
It is a fourteen-month course, spread over four semesters of thirteen weeks each. The course leads to the award of Basic Certificate in Theology. The course coverage includes Survey of the New Testament, Rudimentary Old Testament Hebrew, Rudimentary New Testament Greek, Church History, World Religions, Evangelism and Church Growth, Pastoral Care and Counseling, and Christian Ethics.
Apart from lectures, seminars are organised periodically on important theological issues such as Gender Issues, Ecumenism in Ghana, African Christianity in Global Context, and the Challenges of the New Religious Movements to the Church.
The school does not guarantee the ordination, consecration or commissioning of its graduates.
Lecturers of the School are not only highly qualified scholars in their specialized fields, but also, seasoned ministers with practical experience and in-depth knowledge of the Ghana context.
